NATIONAL SERVICE

 

National service is an obligation for any Algerian aged nineteen (19) and over.

The management of the national service by the embassy involves:

– The census of Algerian nationals established in the consular district.
– Processing requests for deferment and exemption.

– Processing duplicate applications for a deferment card, exemption, or military booklet.

Census:

The census operation takes place during the first quarter of each year. It concerns Algerian citizens aged 17 and over, residing in the Netherlands.

The citizens concerned by the census must send to the Embassy the duly completed information form (download here) accompanied by a copy of the birth certificate of the person concerned (transcribed for people born abroad), as well as a copy of the guardian’s registration card.

REQUEST OR RENEWAL OF DELAY

For the deferment request, provide:

  • A full copy of the birth certificate (transcribed certificates for persons born abroad).
  • A copy of the Algerian identity card.
  • A copy of the consular registration card (compulsory at 19) or a copy of that of the father if the person concerned has not reached the age of majority accompanied by a photocopy of the family record book.
  • A copy of the valid Regular Residence Card in the Netherlands.
  • An (original) school certificate for the current year, or any document justifying a professional activity.
  • Four (04) regulatory and recent identity photos.

For the renewal of a deferment, present:

  • The old card or the deferral certificate.
  • A school certificate or internship certificate for the current year.
  • Two recent and identical passport photos.

PROCEDURE FOR DISPENSATION OR EXEMPTION

File to be provided according to the case:

 

For the breadwinner:

  • A handwritten request explaining the applicant’s situation.
  • A full copy of the birth certificate (transcribed certificates for persons born abroad).
  • A copy of the consular registration card (compulsory at 19 years old).
  • An employment contract and a copy of the last three (03) payslips.
  • A family record of the parents’ civil status or a photocopy of the family record book.
  • An individual civil status record of the person concerned or photocopy of the family record book if married.
  • A certificate of non-employment or other proof of disability or incapacity of the parents.
  • Four (04) recent legal passport photos.

Medical Exemption:

  • A full copy of the birth certificate (transcribed certificates for persons born abroad).
  • A photocopy of the consular registration card.
  • A photocopy of the Algerian national identity card.
  • Four (04) recent legal passport photos.
  • A medical file (in French) proving the illness or disability.

Regularization under presidential measures:

  • A full copy of the birth certificate (transcribed certificates for persons born abroad).
  • A copy of the Algerian identity card.
  • A copy of the consular registration card.
  • A copy of the residence card.
  • An original school certificate for the current year, or any document justifying a professional activity.
  • Four (04) recent legal passport photos.

DUPLICATE REQUEST

In case of loss of national service documents (exemption card or military booklet or deferment), the person concerned must report to the consular service of the Algerian embassy in the Netherlands with the documents listed below:

  • A handwritten request for a duplicate.
  • A declaration of loss issued by the consulate.
  • A full copy of the birth certificate (transcribed certificates for persons born abroad).
  • A copy of the consular card.
  • Two (02) legal and recent identity photos.
